If you are anything like me, you love dreaming and planning your life. And what better way to plan and visualize your future than by making vision boards? This time with affirmations!
I usually make my vision boards on Canva because it’s so convenient. Sometimes it’s fun to get a bit more hands-on and do it the old-fashioned way, but doing it all digitally works too. And I must say, affirmations and motivational quotes work super well for vision boards.
The one thing I recommend you do though, is print the vision board so that you can put it somewhere you’ll see it often. Alternatively, you can make it your laptop wallpaper. Or maybe you could even make a mini vision board for your phone?
In any case, I highly recommend you take this vision board business seriously and make new ones regularly, whenever you feel like making one could help you with your goals. New Year’s is one of the best times of the year to make one!
It’s such a lovely feeling to look at your vision board at the end of the year and see all the things that came true!
Important things to note when making vision boards
A vision board is basically a collage of inspiring images, but affirmations are really useful for this purpose too. They can capture your motivation and your attitude in ways that images sometimes can’t.
Before making your vision board and choosing which affirmations to use, you want to take a moment to ask yourself a couple of questions:
- What do you truly want?
- What can you focus on in the next year or so?
You don’t want to waste your precious time on things that would be nice, but don’t actually matter. You only want to focus on things that your heart truly desires and things that would honestly help you level up your life.
You also don’t want to add every single thing you want to have in life to this one vision board. You have a lot of years left, but you can’t do everything at once. Prioritize the things that you could realistically do or have within the time frame you have in mind.
For example, if you dream of becoming a published author one day, a good thing to add to your board would be “Finish the first draft” or “Write three short stories”. “Sell 1 million copies” should probably wait until a later vision board.
That being said, I want you to have the courage to put what you truly want on your vision board, even if it feels a little far-fetched right now. The key is choosing things that could happen.
Vision boards and affirmations can be super helpful, but they aren’t magic. You need to put in the work to make your vision board come true. You need to make a clear plan, with actionable steps, to reach your goals, and you need to have the courage to act when an opportunity presents itself.
