Spring is the time of new beginnings, sunshine, and birds singing. But it’s also the time of spring goals. Spring and the increasing natural light tend to give you some extra energy which you need to put to good use. This is the perfect season to set some new personal goals that help you make your life a bit better.

I’m all for New Year’s resolutions, but you don’t have to wait till next year to start your new life. Short-term goals are a great way to slowly but surely change your life for the better. And having a list of goals to work on can be really motivating.

You can set yourself some monthly goals that help you work on your bigger goals too.  Or you can simply try a couple of these spring goals and see where they take you.

Why you need to set spring goals

You want to change your life and yourself, right? And you probably wouldn’t mind getting more out of your life, being more organized, and having more fun?

That’s where my list of spring goal ideas comes in. They will make your spring a bit more fun, give you more experiences, and ensure that you have everything in order.

Setting new goals is always a great idea if you ask me and spring goals are especially good since spring is the time of the year when the whole world around you is changing and coming alive, so you are bound to feel extra energetic.

1. Use your phone minimally

Constantly checking your phone easily adds up and without even noticing it, you might be spending two or three hours every day on Instagram or Tiktok. That’s technically two full workdays per week. No wonder it can be hard to complete your to-do list sometimes.

If you want to have more time to do the things that actually matter to you, a good goal to set for this spring is to use your phone only when you really need to.

This can literally change your life. Just imagine how much more you could get done if you didn’t spend so much time on your phone. Just try this for a month and I guarantee you, you will see a positive change in your life.

2. Take weekend trips

It’s always a good idea to go on a little trip. There might be some nearby destinations you’ve always wanted to visit but never had the time. But you can also simply open Google Maps and see if there’s an interesting town or inn not too far away.

Go alone or with your friends and let yourself forget all about work and other mundane responsibilities while you’re there. Just let yourself have some fun and make great memories.

3. Start taking more photos

Almost everyone seems to be taking an increasing amount of photos every day, but these pictures are often just selfies or photos you intend to share online. You want to also take photos that will be fun to look at when you’re older.

To actually capture your life in this time and age, you need to approach taking photos a bit differently. Start taking pictures of things that you pass by every day and other things that you’d love to be able to see years later.

Make sure to take lots of pictures with your friends and other people in your life because those pictures are the most valuable.

4. Take care of your posture

If you spend a big part of your day just sitting and staring at your computer screen, there’s a good chance that your posture is slowly getting worse.

You don’t have to let that happen though! Set a goal this spring to fix your posture and take better care of ergonomics.

You can get started by watching this 10-minute video of some good posture exercises.

5. Go hiking every weekend

Hiking is a great way to have fun, get some exercise, and spend time with your friends (but it’s fun alone too).

Now that the colder months are behind and the weather is getting better, it’s the best time to start going out more and spending time in nature. You can spend the whole day hiking or just go for a couple of hours if that fits your plans better. Either way, you’re bound to have a great time!

6. Write poems

If you’re an aspiring writer, you need a lot of practice. One way to include some more writing in your days is to write poems. They don’t have to be long or complicated and you don’t need to show them to anyone.

Even if you’re not a writer, you can still enjoy writing poems simply for fun. Explore a different side of yourself and see if poetry is something you’d like to continue doing.

If this is your first time writing poems and you feel like you’re not any good, keep in mind that you are learning a new skill and it’s normal for it to be difficult in the beginning. Just write a simple poem every day. Small goals like this will slowly but surely help you become a better writer.

7. Start a new exercise routine

The beginning of spring is the perfect time to set some new fitness goals because you likely have much more energy than during the dark days of the winter months.

In winter you might be discouraged by having to plow through two feet of snow to get anywhere, but in spring, that is no longer a problem. Why not get a gym membership and go to the gym two or three times a week?

It’s also a good idea to set a spring goal to start taking better care of your physical health in general, like by eating healthier foods or sitting less. If you’re serious about this, you could even get a personal trainer.

8. Do spring cleaning

What would spring be without spring cleaning? Well, probably a perfectly fine spring, but why not spend a day or two making your home a little bit tidier and more organized?

You will feel much better in a home where everything is where it should be and all shelves, nooks, and closets are clean. If you want, you can for example choose to clean one room or one closet every Saturday. That way spring cleaning won’t get overwhelming.

And if you don’t want to spend much time cleaning, that’s just fine. The key objective here is to tidy up your home so that you can have a fresh start.

9. Redecorate your home

Other than tidying up, why not redecorate your home too? Now is the ideal time to try new things. You can change the whole feeling of a room by simply moving some furniture around or by buying new throw pillows.

If you don’t want to make any changes to your home, why not get some flowers to cheer you up and enjoy that spring feeling?

10. Go on picnics with your friends

Once it gets warm enough, you can go on picnics with your friends. It’s a fun way to spend some time together and just relax after work or on the weekends.

You can have a potluck-style picnic where everyone simply brings one or two things to share so that the picnic is as easy as possible to organize. This is literally one of my favorite things to do!

11. Organize your files

You probably have quite a few files in the wrong place or just waiting to be backed up. It’s not fun to constantly have that nagging voice somewhere inside your head saying that you should finally organize all of your files.

So set a goal to do just that this spring. Delete unnecessary files, create a good system to organize all your pictures, documents, and other files, and most importantly, back everything up.

12. Start using affirmations

If you want to change your life in any way, the most important thing to do is to change your mindset. And that is exactly what affirmations do. They help you change your mindset, after which it will be much easier to take action.

Try using affirmations every morning and see what happens. You can use these affirmations to build self-confidence or these affirmations to get more motivated.

Conclusion

Spring is the perfect time to set some new goals and change your life a little. The weather is getting more beautiful all the time and the increasing daylight gives you energy. And if you are serious about building a better future, goal setting is a must. The first step you should do right away is to set some monthly goals.

Use these spring goals to get more out of your life and to get your life a bit more organized. You can set all the goals on this list if you want, but you can also choose only one or two, whatever works best for you.
