“What if I don’t get that job?”

“What if the first flight is late and I don’t catch the next flight?”

“What if she misunderstands my words?”

“What if I fail at this?”

Are these kinds of thoughts perhaps familiar to you? Chances are that they do ring a bell, given that people usually have a habit of worrying about the smallest things and asking themselves “But what if..?”

It’s of course natural to be a little worried about what’s going to happen, especially if you know that something not working out means that you will have a problem to solve.

However, worrying doesn’t help you one bit. It just holds you back.

Losing sleep and opportunities over worries that aren’t even any way guaranteed is such a waste of life. And I’m talking from experience here.

So, if you’re tired of overthinking and want to live your life more or less worry-free, what is there to do?

You can use this workbook to learn what you should start doing to become your dream self!

This is what I did to stop worrying

As promised, this is a very simple trick, but it does work.

Any time I find myself thinking “Oh no, what if this doesn’t work” or “What if she says no” or anything like that, I just answer myself:

“I’ll just think about it then.”

Simple, isn’t it? Not a very powerful sentence at first glance either. But what it does is tell you exactly what you need to hear: there’s no need to worry about something that may or may not happen in this or that way at some point.

If something doesn’t go according to your plan, you’ll think about it and take action when the time comes. You’ll know more then. And the answer is probably pretty simple anyway.

Why this simple thought makes a difference

May I just say that starting to give myself this response to all my worries (big and small) has made me much happier, and it’s made my life easier.

I used to worry about the smallest things, like what if I go to a store and my card doesn’t work. It’s silly, really, because it’s so unlikely to happen and it’s not really even a bad thing. If your card doesn’t work, you pay in cash or just say that you’ll come back later.

People are accustomed to thinking that life is perilous and full of pitfalls around every corner. But in reality, life really isn’t that hard. Not everything will go according to your plan, but so what? Things tend to work themselves out sooner or later.

You might not even notice how much time you’re wasting worrying about things that might not even happen. But once you start answering those anxious thoughts that pop into your head with “I dunno, I’ll just think about it then”, you’re allowing yourself to be more spontaneous, take action when you see an opportunity, and stop postponing things to the future just because something might go slightly wrong.

This can literally change your life.

No more of that endless pondering and second-guessing. You want to do something? Do it. You want to take a chance? Take it. You want to ask someone something? Ask.
