9 Useful Winter Goals You Need This Winter
Setting new goals is always a good idea. And what better time to set them than winter, when you probably want to spend most of your time inside anyway? It’s time to set some winter goals!
My favorite season is definitely summer, but I do appreciate the fact that it’s much easier to be productive in winter. It’s the prime time for working and writing if you ask me.
These winter goals will help you get more out of this season. If you set any of these goals now and stick to them, you’ll be proud of yourself by the time spring rolls around. It never hurts to learn new skills and start new projects after all!
1. Learn photo editing
If you are any kind of content creator or you’d like to become one, photo editing is definitely a useful skill to learn.
I’m mainly a blogger, but I edit photos all the time. And while I know how to edit photos the way I want, it never hurts to learn a bit more.
This winter, take an online photo editing course or practice on your own. Your new skills will definitely be of use!
2. Start a blog on Medium
Do you like writing? Do you sometimes secretly wish you had an online following who wants to read what you have to say?
If that is the case, set a winter goal to start a new blog on Medium.com. It’s a good community to be a part of and you can accumulate followers quickly if you write often.
If you want, you can go check out my blog, which is very casual though and I hardly have time to publish much there.
3. Public speaking
If you wish you were better at public speaking, spend these couple of months honing that skill.
Being good at speaking is an admirable skill and can be particularly useful if you have a lot of presentations to give or you work in a field where social skills are of extra importance.
You can practice public speaking and articulation at home, but it doesn’t hurt to look for opportunities outside your house as well.

4. Start a capsule wardrobe
In case you feel like you own too many clothes or you simply need to buy more staple items for your closet, why not start a capsule wardrobe?
Doing some online window shopping is always enjoyable, and you might find some really good deals or get inspired to try a new style.
When your capsule wardrobe is complete, you can be confident that you are ready for any occasion!
5. Start your own website
I love building websites. This blog is my main one, but I also have two others. And while they can be a lot of work and I often wonder how I can possibly get everything on my to-do list done, I still love doing it.
If you have been thinking about starting any kind of website, why not do it now? If you have never had your own website before, there will be a lot to learn, but you will also open up many possibilities for the future!
6. Learn to draw
Have you always been envious of people who can draw well? Or do you simply wish your doodles looked a little better?
One fun little winter goal to set is to learn how to draw. Simply set an hour or two for your new hobby a couple of times a week and you can get much better by the end of February.
There are a lot of useful resources online, but you could also go see if your local library has any good books on the topic.
7. New skincare routine
Many people wish their skin looked better. If you are one of these people, you need to do something about it.
Even if you feel like your skin simply is what it is, I’m sure taking better care of it will make a difference. There are plenty of resources online that will teach you how to have healthier skin.
Figure out what would work for your skin type and then create a simple skincare routine that is easy to follow even when you’re tired and just want to go to bed.
8. Plan new trips
It might be winter now, but before you know it, it will be spring, and summer will follow shortly after. If you feel like you can’t wait for sunnier and warmer days, start planning some trips for next year.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to see Rome or you want to go on a road trip from New York to Los Angeles. Wherever you want to go, it’s a good idea to spend some time planning it. Travel planning can take a lot of time, but it can also be a lot of fun.
And even if you are not planning on traveling abroad next year, you can always plan some day trips from where you live.
9. Learn sewing
If you’ve ever wanted to be able to make your own clothes, one of the best winter goals you can set for yourself might just be learning how to sew.
This can also be a good idea if you often have a hard time finding clothes that fit you just right. And simple clothes like a T-shirt certainly aren’t difficult to make, but it can be a lot of fun to be able to make exactly the kind of clothes you want.
