7 July Goals That Will Make Your Life More Exciting
Summer is lovely, isn’t it? But I bet you’d like to make it even better. That’s why you should set some of these July goals for yourself!
Monthly goals are a fantastic way to make your life more exciting and to start doing things you don’t normally do. You can set them to start being more productive, more social or to get more out of your life. These goal ideas for July will help you with the last one.
I recommend you go through the list of ideas below and think about which goals would make your July the best. Don’t forget that it’s often the things that make us nervous (or even scared) that end up being the most memorable and make the biggest difference in our lives.
Why you need to set these July goals
While most people eagerly wait for summer every year, for some reason it’s all too easy to get used to it after the first few weeks. Which means that at some point we forget to take advantage of the beautiful weather and all the opportunities that summer brings.
But sitting inside and doing things you can do year-round is a big mistake.
Life is at its best when you go out and explore new places, spend time with your favorite people and get to admire the beautiful nature that is at its best this time of the year.
That’s why you need to set these July goals. They will make your life much more exciting and you will have more memories to think about when it’s dark and cold outside.
1. Be more spontaneous
Summer is the perfect time to be more spontaneous! Being spontaneous for sure makes life more exciting and it will give you some of the best memories of the summer.
You can book festival or flight tickets on a whim, go for a bike ride without losing a second to thinking about whether you have enough energy to do that or not and you can try new things without careful consideration about whether this is something you really want to do or not.
This is your one life, of course you want to do it!
2. Contact old friends
Were you best friends with someone all through elementary and middle school, but somehow you lost contact at some point? Have you been wondering what your old high school friends have been doing? Do you miss an old friend, but are afraid to send them a message?
If there is someone you’d like to see after years of not hearing anything about them, now is your chance! I know you might feel nervous and you might wonder whether they’d like to hear from you or whether they even remember you.
But people do want to hear from their old friends. And you’re not doing anything wrong by sending one message. So pick up your phone and invite them for coffee. You never know, you might even become really good friends again!
3. Do one thing that really scares you
Spontaneity will make your life exciting, but doing things that scare you will do that even more!
If there is something you have been dreaming of, but have thought it’s too difficult or you’re not the right person to do it, think again. You can do anything you set your mind to and most things aren’t nearly as hard as we first think they are.
Whether you want to go backpacking in southern Asia, start your own Youtube channel, or completely change your style, that’s something you should do. And why not get started right away?

4. Try a new hobby
The world is full of hobbies you can try and often you don’t really know what they are like until you try. Think about all the possible hobbies you could have and what is available in your area.
Have you ever tried dancing, horse riding, or writing? If there is something you have been thinking about trying, do it! It can also be fun to try hobbies that you’re not really all that interested in – you might be surprised!
There are also plenty of cheap hobbies and things you can do at home, so you can for sure find something you enjoy.

5. Read four fiction books
Reading is always a good idea, whether you’re looking for knowledge or entertainment. Set a goal this month to read four fiction books. You can try a completely new genre or see what books are the most popular right now to find something good to read.
If you haven’t read anything in a while or you’ve never been much of a bookworm, I recommend choosing a well-known mystery book that isn’t very thick.
6. Go camping
Camping is always an adventure and July is one of the best months to do it. If you’ve never been camping before or it’s been years since the last time, why not do it now? Invite a friend or a few to join you, or go alone if you’re feeling extra adventurous.
It’s quite exciting to sleep outside in a forest or a meadow, even if it makes you nervous at first. If you want, you can of course also camp on campsites where there are other people around.
7. Spend at least an hour outside every day
If you ask me, July is the best time of the year. It’s sunny, green, and warm, and every day is full of possibilities. The biggest mistake you can do is to waste it by sitting inside scrolling through social media, which is hardly going to make you feel all that good anyway.
Set a goal to spend at least an hour outside every single day this month. This will ensure that you spend your summer well and there’s also a good chance that you’ll end up spending much more time outside than just an hour.
Final thoughts on setting July goals
If you want to live your life to the fullest, you have to make it exciting. Setting July goals will help you do just that. The goal ideas listed above can make this month much more interesting and memorable.
Set a few of these goals for yourself and make some plans right away. Ask your friends to join or simply spend the best July ever solo. Don’t be afraid to try new things and have fun.
