9 Easy October Goals That Will Help You Get Further in Life
There are only three months left of this year and that means that you need to take your time more seriously. I’m sure you have set some goals, plans, and hopes for this year, and now is the time to take action if you have been slacking a little. These October goals will help you get back on track!
Whether you are a student or a working professional, whether you want to upgrade your whole life or simply make your everyday life a bit easier, these monthly goals are for you. They will make it easier for you to get more out of life and simply make this month a bit more fun.
Well then, let’s get to the goals!
1. Create a new productivity system
I’m sure you want to be more productive and get everything on your to-do list done. But how can you actually do it?
One way to approach this issue is to create a productivity system for yourself. This will help you get everything done without wasting time on procrastinating and wondering what you should be doing.
The simpler system you have, the easier it is for you to stick to it!
2. Take a free online course
Learning new things is always a good idea and doing it online makes it super easy!
One fun October goal to set is to take an online course or two. There are plenty of free courses available on a wide range of topics and you can study at your own pace.
To get started, check out Coursera, The Open University, and Udemy.
3. Create a study or work playlist
Listening to music can actually help you focus and get your work done if you choose the right music!
This October, create a new playlist for yourself that helps you get in the right mood and concentrate on your work. A good playlist gives you energy but doesn’t make you want to sing along or search for more music by the same artist.
Choose songs that help you block out the rest of the world when it’s time to work or study. Instrumental songs tend to be the best for this. You can for example try movie soundtracks!
4. Learn to become more efficient
If you want to get further in life, I’m sure there are many things you want to get done. The problem is that time is always limited and there is only so much you can do in one day.
One way to get more done is to learn to become more efficient. Most people have a habit of spending too much time on simple tasks and busy work. By learning to stop wasting your time and simply get things done, you can save a lot of time and energy. You need to focus on making progress, not perfection.
One way to do this is to estimate how much each task should take you and then set a timer. This way you’ll learn to get things done faster.

5. Do a photoshoot
Do you feel like your Instagram profile picture is a bit boring? Is your LinkedIn picture from five years ago?
Why not have a fun little photoshoot by yourself or with your friends and get a nice set of good-quality photos that you can use on social media and wherever else you might need them?
Of course, you can also simply get some photos for fun. It’s always a good idea to take photos and make some memories.
6. Start gratitude journaling
Did you know that practicing gratitude makes you happier? We spend way too much time thinking about all the things that are wrong in our lives that sometimes it can be hard to remember all the wonderful things around us.
Start paying extra attention to the little things in life, like a beautiful sunset or how precious a completely mundane moment in a supermarket choosing the best apples is.
Gratitude journaling is another great idea. It only takes a couple of minutes out of your day and it can make you feel much better about your life. Try The 5 Minute Journal and see what a difference it makes!
7. Go to museums
Not everything has to be about being more productive or improving yourself. It’s important to simply enjoy life sometimes. Fall is the best time to visit some museums, let the art and history inspire you, and take a little break from your everyday life.
Set one October goal for yourself to go to at least two museums. Any kind of museum will do. If there are some museums you’ve been thinking about visiting, now is the time!
8. Start doing volunteer work
I’ve done a lot of volunteer work and I absolutely love it. Frankly, I wish I had more time so I could join some new projects.
If you want to do something meaningful, meet new people, and learn new skills, look up some volunteer opportunities in your area or online.
Volunteer work will look great on your resume too. Recruiters have often been impressed by my list of volunteer experiences and most volunteer work is a lot of fun, so you’ll likely want to do it anyway.

9. Update your LinkedIn page
Small things can make a big difference and that’s exactly why you should spend some time updating your LinkedIn page.
LinkedIn is one of the best websites for job hunting, but if your profile is incomplete, you have an old boring photo and you’re not really selling yourself, it’s going to be much harder to find a new job.
To fix this, all you need to do is spend an hour or two perfecting your profile and you can start searching for your next job!
